Letter from the WCPA
President
It was a great Convention
& Expo '98 in San Rafael! If you couldn't make it, you missed a
wonderful two days, filled with very insightful presentations and
top-notch speakers and presenters. The exhibitors put on a
wonderful show of their wares. The outings to Fisherman's Wharf
and The Sonoma County Wineries were great fun and there were many
opportunities to meet follow members of our industry. Special
thanks to Jay Gardner of PJ's Canvas & Sail Shop in Napa for
helping arrange a unique sailing excursion on a 55' Catamaran and
dinner at Pier Market Restaurant on Pier 39.
A lot of hard work went into planning and coordinating the whole
event. Helmut Blum (European Rolling
Shutters) and Dirk Leone (The Astrup Company, Hayward Branch)
deserve a great round of thanks for putting together an excellent
program. Drop them a line, or give them a quick phone call to let
them know you appreciated their efforts. Joe Belli (Eide
Industries) did a super job of organizing a direct mail campaign
to architects, designers, contractors, etc. in the San Rafael
area. Because of his efforts, we saw about fifteen
new-to-our-industry faces at the Expo, a couple of whom were ready
to purchase products and design systems for their architectural
projects right then and there!
The WCPA Convention & Expo is a great way to discover the awning,
Marine and Fabrics Industry. Finally, thanks are in order to all
of you for your wholehearted participation. Your
grateful attitudes and willing spirits made it all worthwhile to
the convention planners. Next year we will be in Las Vegas at the
MGM Grand Hotel (Feb. 21-23). Plan now on being there! Think about
bringing a friend, colleague or even a competitor in our industry.
There are too many good, professional growth opportunities at our
convention to miss!
