Avoid Cost of New Awnings
For at Least a Few More Years
Awnings that look old and dulled often end up discarded long
before they need be, says
Steve Summerday, president of Summerday's Awning Care Inc., in Gig
Harbor, Wash.
In most cases, awnings that have lost their luster from long
exposure to sun, temperature
swings, precipitation and pollutants can be restored to new life
relatively inexpensively through
a process of vinyl resurfacing.
"It's an excellent option for people who want to improve the
appearance of their home,
office or shop without having to invest in a new awning," says
Summerday.
Resurfacing entails applying a coating of liquid vinyl over the
existing awning's fabric
surfaces. The coating is available in over 800 stock colors, and
can be custom mixed for even
more choices.
"The end result is an awning that looks brand new, but has simply
had the original fabric
revinylized," says Allison Summerday, company executive in charge
of sales. "The resurfacing
compound has proven successful over the past seven years,
requiring maintenance of nothing more than regular periodic cleanings and an annual reseal."
Summerday's describes itself as the Northwest region's sole
provider of awning resurfacing services. |
